boardwalk fries

Greetings, readers! Just a note to say I’ll be disappearing for the rest of the week to head to the ocean with two of my dearest gal pals.

If you haven’t been keeping up with A Pear to Remember, there are several new posts from the past week—take a chance to catch up on your food reading!

Just because we’ll be on vacation doesn’t mean we won’t be cooking. In fact, the three of us have serious plans to make good use of the kitchen. And I promise to come back and write you all about it.

In case you haven’t gotten to the beach just yet this summer (though we’re not too far into the season), here are some food reads I love—whether my seat is near the sofa or the surf:

The Gospel of Food: Everything You Think You Know About Food is Wrong by Barry Glassner

Alone in the Kitchen with An Eggplant: Confessions of Cooking for One and Dining Alone edited by Jenni Ferrari-Adler

What To Eat by Marion Nestle

Food Politics by Marion Nestle

(not to mention I love any issue of Vegetarian Times beside my beach chair…)

Here’s to whining wining and dining with friends, times of rest, and memorable food.

thanks, as always, for reading
